Universal Homeschool Center organized its first virtual Thanksgiving Event. Since it was our first, our students were excited and curious about it. We had it virtually but some students preferred attending the event at the center. Those who couldn’t attend the event physically joined us virtually. All necessary precautions were taken and the event was organized keeping the current covid situation in mind.
Our event started at 9 am with a speech from Mr. Sam. Mr. Sam is also our Social Studies teacher and his speech was not only filled with the history of Thanksgiving but also the importance of gratitude in life. After Mr. Sam’s speech, we begin our games round. We divided the students and teachers into 3 different teams and all the 3 teams were led by our teachers (Mr. Asogan, Ms. Jing Wen, and Ms. Jiun Ting).
Our first game was Tongue Twisters hosted by Ms. Ashah(our Language Arts teacher). We called the Tongue Twister game “Roll Your Tongue” and I must say there was a lot of tongue rolling and laughter heard in this game as the students had a hard time saying the tongue twisters fast.
After the Tongue Twister, we went for our next game. The riddles game that we called Use Your Loaf. The riddles game was hosted by Ms. Manita (our Language Arts teacher). There were lots of competition at this round as the students eagerly answered the riddles. After that, we had a break for 20 minutes during which the students ate fast food organized for them. Those who joined us virtually had their McDonald’s delivered to them. After our lunch break, we continued the event by organizing a thank-you session hosted by none other than Ms. Angelina (our science teacher).
Each student had to write a thank you message to their friends and teachers. It certainly was a heartwarming round as the students shared their gratitude to their friends and teachers. Some even shared their personal stories. We all enjoyed this event and it certainly was an event filled with love and gratitude for one another. We ended by clicking pictures and doing various kinds of poses. It certainly was a fun event.
